Universal Studios’ Movies Now Available For Re-Download on iCloud

Back in March, along with the launch of Apple TV 3 and Apple TV software update 5.0 for Apple TV 2, Apple had also rolled out iTunes in the Cloud for movies, which allows users to re-download the movie they’ve purchased on any iOS device.

However, at that time, movies from Fox and Universal were not available in iTunes in the Cloud service due to contractual obligations with HBO.

But HBO had agreed to relax its terms and allow Universal and Fox movies on iCloud. MacRumors now reports that movies from Universal Studios are available for re-download through Apple’s iCloud service.

When searching for movies in iTunes, Universal movies no longer have contain a warning that the movies are not available through iCloud, while Fox’s movies retain the warning.

Another reader was able to confirm he was able to re-download 40 Year Old Virgin. Previous movie purchases from Universal should now be available for redownload in your previous purchased menu on iTunes.

Fox is also working with HBO so we expect movies from Fox to be available for re-download soon.
