Boston has topped the list of 30 major cities as being the most expensive city to visit in the country when it comes to lodging costs, according to a recent budget hotel report by CheapHotels.org.
To stay overnight in the Hub this may, visitors will have to shell out at least $194 for a hotel room. that price tag tops No. 2 contender new York by $22, where the same rooms are going for $172 a night. Rounding out the top five are Philadelphia, where the cheapest available room is listed at a nightly rate of $154; Washington, D.C., where rooms go for at least $145 a night; and new Orleans, where rooms begin at $117 a night.
The report specifically looked at the amount travelers will have to spend on average to secure the cheapest available double room next month. For comparison purposes, CheapHotels.org considered only those accommodations situated in or very close to either the city center or its main attractions.
Las Vegas and Orlando, Fla. are the cheapest cities to stay in overnight, according to the survey, as rooms there begin at $36 and $33, respectively.
