Middletown High School marching band performs at Magic Kingdom

ORLANDO, Fla. — the Middletown High School marching band turned in a bravura performance for more than 30,000 people in the nighttime Electrical Parade at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World Tuesday.“I am so proud of our kids,” said Band Director Marco Gaylord, after a performance that earned a score of 91 for music and marching from the WDW judges. “They really stepped up tonight. the music was great. we marched great, too. I’m very happy.”the Electrical Parade is a nightly feature in the Magic Kingdom, but the crowd was especially large in that Easter Week is one of Disney’s biggest weeks. in fact, the park was filled to capacity Tuesday.three bands led the parade. the other two were from Vernon, Pa., and Lancaster, Ohio.

“I thought we were clearly superior,” Gaylord said. “we kind of got that impression in practice before the parade began, although I thought the other bands were very good.”the parade route comes down Main Street USA, circles in front of Cinderella’s Castle, then proceeds through Frontierland and Adventureland.“When we turned down Main Street and I saw Cinderella’s Castle all lit up and all those people, it was just breathtaking,” said senior Drum Major Reba Stanley. “it made me think about all four years of hard work and how it all paid off. it was just awesome.”While Stanley had the view from the front right behind the huge ‘M’ flag, senior Andrew Satterberg, who plays the tuba, had the view from the end of the band.“To have the whole band in front of me with that backdrop, to see them giving it their all, was great,” he said. “I was so proud of them.”Mike Cho, another drum major, also called the experience breathtaking.
