This is not a bad betting strategy once and awhile, but you can’t rely on upsets to make you money. if the 10 and 2 Boston Celtics were traveling to the 3 and 7 New Jersey Nets for a game, the safe bet would be to put money on Boston. a majority of the time you will win this bet. Betting on New Jersey is a risky bet that might payout a little better, but you will lose money in the long run trying to predict when a lousy home team will knockoff a powerhouse road time.

Not Factoring In Teams Playing a 2 Games in 2 Nights

The NBA schedule is set up that teams play 2 nights in a row pretty often. this frequently involves late night travel from one city to another and as a result, less sleep and some fatigue. when you are betting, you have to take this factor into account. Teams don’t play as well on the second night of a back to back and you have to bet accordingly.

Not Checking Injury Reports

This is an obvious one but a mistake I have made in the past. You have to check the injury reports before placing a bet. this should be the last thing you do before putting your money down. if the stars aren’t playing, this is a huge factor. if some role players aren’t playing, this can also have a major impact on the outcome of the game. As a general rule, role players play a little better at home than on the road.
