There are a variety of reasons to visit Orlando, only one of which is the Walt Disney World Resort. Wether or not you plan to spend some time in the southwestern, “attractions” quadrant of Orlando, plan to stop over in Winter Park, located to the north of Orlando proper. This beautiful, historic suburb of Orlando is an excellent place to shop, eat, take an evening stroll, or enjoy a community event.
First, Winter Park is noted for its attractive parks and lakes. often known as a high-end haven just outside of Orlando’s downtown area, the town has many premier features. Winter Park has its very own Central Park, one of the best in the city. There’s a rose garden, fountains, and eleven acres of space fit for neighborhood markets and festivals. the best part about Central Park is its proximity to Winter Park’s shopping district, where one can find clothing boutiques, wine bars, and specialty shops.
Other perks, like the indoor farmers’ market, playgrounds, and golfing at the Winter Park Country Club make this a great destination for active young families.
Hoping to catch an event during your stay in the area? Winter Park hosts two fall festivals, outdoor film screening during the Florida Film Festival, and a sidewalk art festival. Winter Park is somewhat of an artsy district after all, and is home to multiple galleries and museums.
The biggest appeal for some is the incredible dining and shopping. if you’re craving espresso, a fine glass of wine, or even amazing barbecue, you’ll find it here. Park Avenue is where you’ll locate many of these eating and drinking establishments. the brick paved roads and intimately lined stores here persuade you into walking up and down and doing a bit of window shopping.
When considering where you will stay in the Winter Park area, don’t overlook the Best Western Mt. Vernon Inn, which has one of the best proximities to the town attractions. This pet-friendly hotel has all the necessary amenities, and is a good deal for time spent in this gorgeous neighborhood. if you must spend a day or two at the theme parks, the big attractions are located approximately half an hour to forty-five minutes away with traffic.
There are definitely more exotic locations to visit in Florida, but Winter Park combines the appeal of an upscale Southern city with the warm, breezy lifestyle of a Florida vacation spot.
