CLEVELAND – despite high gas prices and rising airfares, Americans are starting to plan their summer vacations.
Triple a reports Orlando, Florida and Honolulu, Hawaii are two popular travel spots in 2012. Disney World and gorgeous beaches the main attractions at the tropical locations.
Popular overseas destinations include Rome and London, perhaps due to the Olympics.
If you’re looking on ways to save when flying, don’t book more than three months in advance. Rick Seaney from FareCompare.com tracks airfare prices and said you may not get the best deal that far out.
It’s advised you begin looking about three months in advance, but wait until six weeks before your flight to book a ticket.
Flying out on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Saturday can also help cut costs, as most flights are cheapest on those days.
If you’ll be traveling by car, you might want to use your smartphone to help navigate the cheapest gas prices. a variety of apps let you search by locations near you for the lowest price per gallon of fuel.
